There are many different areas of education that a job seeker can become involved with: early childhood, primary education, high-school, tertiary, special needs, vocational, and professional career development and training. Teachers need formal tertiary education and experience before applying for available positions whereas tutors are generally hired by more informal methods. Both teachers and tutors need to be friendly and approachable, with incredible communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire. Extra work outside the normal school or university hours is generally required to formulate lesson plans and mark student's work. Teachers and tutors are valued highly in society and are often seen as role models as they are an individual's first point of contact with learning about the world and how it works.
