I am an accomplished chartered engineer, construction professional, project control engineer and project manager, with experience on building and civil infrastructure projects. With a career that started as a structural engineer, I moved into construction project management, clientside project management, design management, project controls and contracts management and bring rare depth of knowledge of the interdependencies of project delivery. My experience is broad and includes preparing feasibility studies, developing cost estimates and budgets, programming and scheduling, procuring principal contractors, managing construction delivery, schedules, costs and contracts administration on major projects. Reviewing the draft contract and preparing the contract departure schedule to be finalised with the client before execution. ? Managing and administrating the head contract, preparing progress claims, finalizing the payment schedule with the client and preparing and negotiating delay claims and variations. Reviewing and verifying subcontract claims and variations. ? Monitoring progress delays, completing delay analysis and calculating any associated cost impact. ? Managing project close-out procedures including the substantial completion certificate and the project release form. ? Reconcile the record of payment schedule between the client and our financial department and conclude the retention amount with the associated defect liability period start and completion date. ? Preparing the monthly commercial report for the accrued invoices and accrued subbies payments. Key Achievements: ? Finalised and closed the contractual procedures for two project and received the 50% of the secured retention. ? Successfully secured an extension of time for an excusable delay that occurred in Westconnex M5.

    Khatib is a highly respected global construction consulting firm. Established in 1959, they have 32 branches in the US, Asia, Africa and the UAE supporting the construction of iconic building and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities: I led a quantity surveyor and was responsible for managing the program, cost and reporting functions. I started on this project when it was awarded to the principal contractor and set up and ran all project controls systems and processes. ? Reviewing project scope and drawings to develop project management plan and reporting mechanisms including progress measurement system, time and cost control, change control system, communication plans and dashboards. ? Reviewing and analysing the contractors schedule, interrogating their execution plans, developing improved scenarios negotiating agreement. Submitting plans to the client to secure approval to proceed. ? Monitoring and analysing monthly progress, preparing what-if scenarios on Primavera and working with the principal contractor to manage impacts, develop improved sequencing and resource management to expedite project delivery. ? Monitoring procurement and design production to anticipate and resolve delays impacting site delivery, preparing and analysing scenarios in Primavera to navigate unexpected issues and continue construction as per the baseline. ? Monitoring subcontractor procurement, reviewing subcontractor programs, undertaking analysis and verification to agree schedules to optimize productivity. ? Preparing all project reporting requirements on a weekly and monthly basis including project dashboard, Earned Value Analysis, KPIs highlighting risks and delays along with and mitigation plans and recovery actions taken. ? Managing the QS to process all claims, variations and EOTs, reviewing and verifying these in accordance with the contract, negotiating as required to secure the best result for the client. ? Conducting regular site visits and attending project meetings, checking site execution is in accordance with quality, safety and time performance requirements. Participate in meetings to resolve technical and logistical issues to expedite delivery. ? Managing the BIM execution plan (3D, 4D and 5D), review, check and update models developed by the contractor. ? Managing the implementation and compliance of sustainability requirements to achieve 4* rating in accordance with the Qatar sustainability rating system. ? Manage and audit the recording of all project communication including; progress meetings, technical meeting, letters and correspondences to track the execution and coordinate with all contractor, subcontractor and engineers. ? Coordinating with external stakeholders including the governmental authorities such as civil defence, water and electricity utilities to prevent delays. Key Achievements: ? Using VBA to extract data from Primavera, I built the project dashboard and scorecard in Excel providing clear visibility of progress, risks and opportunities. ? Using Last Planner techniques, successfully recovered 45-day slippage, after understanding the issues causing the delays (resources and manpower), I was able to work with the contractor to optimise productivity and use of resources. ? When country borders were closed to Qatar, we had a large amount of long lead-time materials that were unable to be delivered. I worked on the recovery plan which included rerouting materials and changing the country of origin for some materials. This also impacted ventilation equipment and so I quarantined the impacted area, re-scheduling testing and commissioning to ensure we could still get Government approvals and hand over most of the project to the client on-time. ? I analysed, negotiated and finalized a complex EOT claim for a major commercial roads and infrastructure package of works. This involved extensive negotiation and workshops and reduced the contractors claim from 412 days to 145 days.

Managing internal budgets, consultancy hours and subcontractor hours, overseeing invoicing, variations and EOTs. Key Achievements: ? Achieved very challenging client deadlines for the sports hall by fast-tracking construction phase and splitting the tender stage into two packages. The construction budget matched the prepared estimation. ? I conducted three internal training session to project managers on PMBOK in preparation for the PMP exam. Each session was 35 hours.
