Introduction

Hema Lata graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) with a Diploma in Fine Art (Distinction). Following graduation, Hema served as an Executive (Sector Development) at the National Arts Council, Singapore, where she assisted in logistics and venue management for the Singapore Writers Festial 2012. In addition to her commitments at NAC, she also organised and participated in art exhibitions and actively attended or volunteered for events at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) and Viridian Art House to keep herself updated and to ensure that her knowledge and pursuits in art do not stagnate after graduation. Hema is currently undertaking her undergraduate studies in Melbourne, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art), majoring in Sculpture, Sound and Spatial Practice at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).

    Executive (Sector Development) National Arts Council, Singapore Was appointed as Executive at the National Arts Council to assist in logistics and venue co-ordination for the 2012 Singapore Writers Festival. Roles and responsibilities included: - Assisting in coordinating with the different venues as well as authors to ensure that logistics for the Festival are in place. - Assisted in ticketing matters – through email correspondence with the authors involved in the Festival, to ensure they are kept up to date on their ticket entitlements and orders - Reacting to unforeseen circumstances accordingly e.g. when an author is late for the sessions, when an author does not turn up - Assisting in managing and interacting with the volunteers - Developing the design of the Festival Crew t-shirt and suggesting improvements to the outdoor décor of the Festival
