Dear Oneshift Jobs, I am a hardworking, motivated and ambitious marketing manager. I have experience in sales, receiption and admin work (as PA at a property development agency). Recently I have been an assistant manager for Seed Clothing store in Hawksburn. This recent step into retail comes after a 7 year career in public relations, print media marketing and broadcast media project management.
In previous roles including public relations assistant for Bendigo Bank and Marketing Assistant for The Age I assisted the Head of PR and Head of Marketing, by coordinating and executing all promotional operational projects, training staff in media liaison, published and implemented new initiatives (such as improved company communications style guides) and attended new bank branch roll-outs/ and events for The Age. In these roles I provided support and acted as a key point of contact to the head office team, state branch managers and individual bank branch managers.
Recently, Managing a small retail team I thrived on meeting (often beating) store budgets, managing on-floor and reserve stock levels , administering sale and productivity reports, maintaining high standards of visual merchandising, offering strong product knowledge and being ‘on the pulse’ of new trends.
I enjoy being a strong support to the manager and state management team and part-time and causal staff leading by example.
I hope to be described as a responsible, passionate and supportive manager and co worker. Each day I deliver the highest standard of customer service and make it priority to know the range ‘inside out’ and to put myself ‘into the shoes’ of a time-pressed client, who may require an outfit which is relevant, meets their needs and budget in either Femme and Child product ranges.
Daily, I factor in the following tasks: store cleanliness and maintaining VM standards, preparation for sale: is all relevant stock on the floor ready to sell?, allocation of tasks and rostering: is everyone ready and in attendance for work, delivering the highest level of customer service: creating a welcoming environment for clients to visit repeatedly, becoming a trusted adviser on the latest in-store trends, meeting sales budgets and ensuring that everyone is working as a team towards this target, reporting in an acurate/timely manner to head office/ the state manager on daily productivity, being a point-of-contact for any issues that arise during operating hours, Opening and closing the store reliably and efficiently.
I have long been an advocate of WISE Prahran, where the team have generously allowed me to navigate new employment avenues. When I heard of this opportunity, I thought it might be an exciting and relevant position to apply for. I am inspired by the conversation with Edward and also a previous desire to work in Human Resources, placing people in employment.
Having worked and shifted industries: from media, to sports administration and from PR to retail – I feel I can offer knowledge of some of the requirements (of employers) in these fields.
I have a broad understanding of business operation, a warm and efficient telephone manner, ability to process paperwork and learn computer systems, well-developed Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills, strong degree of accuracy and numerical ability (for example cashing up and reporting on monthly progression budgets and coordinating Annual Report figures at Bendigo Bank). Working in retail recently, I have strong financial understanding of budgets, store related KPI’s and managing wages. As a previous PR assistant, I have excellent writing skills, high level of attention to detail, good time management and organization skills, strong interpersonal skills with customers, store staff and suppliers.
Through working as a manager, I have adopted a Pro-active approach to problem identification & resolution, a willingness to learn, display initiative, embrace challenges and take on new responsibilities and an ability to focus on continuous process improvement.
I would be excited to use my sales, management and business product knowledge as part of a productive and upbeat team.
I would be delighted to hear from you.
