My name is Emma Gould and I am seekin part time or casual work.
I have been working in the Children’s Services industry for the past 7 years and hold a Diploma in Children’s Services. I am seeking a new challenge and to broaden my skills and experience in other fields. To assist me in gaining employment in other areas I completed a Certificate IV in Small Business Management at the end of 2012.
Within this course I learnt basic accounting and book keeping skills as well as marketing techniques and how to develop and present business plans and proposals. I believe that these, along with the skills developed through my work and studies in Early Childhood Education, are transferable to admin and retail/sales positions.
Most recently I have returned from 10 months overseas where I worked as an Au Pair in England for 9 of those months. I was solely responsible for getting the children up and ready, taking and picking up the older one from school, organising our day and fixing meals. My days were between 10 and 12 hours and I had to manage my time efficiently to achieve all goals and expectations.
In my role as an Early Childhood Educator, I was Room Co-ordinator in a 3-5 year old room for a period of 18 months. In this role I was solely responsible for designing, organising and implementing every aspect of each day’s program while also communicating program needs for relief staff to follow when I wasn’t present. This demonstrates organisation skills which mean I’m able to find things quickly and easily and enjoy putting together displays of information.
Mid 2012 I applied for a promotion to Assistant Director in my workplace. While ultimately unsuccessful, I was shortlisted for interview and my skills and potential were recognised by management as being highly valuable. I was given extra responsibilities on top of my Room Co-ordinator role and worked with management on other projects within the service. In this role I learnt to process payments, develop policies and procedures and assist with other administration and office tasks such as photo copying.
I am customer focused, self motivated and goal oriented. I have sound computer skills with Microsoft Windows and Office and believe I would quickly adapt to new programs and computer systems. I am easy going, organised, reliable and capable of working in a team or independently as required. I am committed to ongoing, lifelong learning and am happy to undergo further training in relevant areas.
Though my qualifications in Children’s Services do not directly relate to admin, sales & customer service work, I believe they illustrate strong interpersonal skills and show that I am a hard worker and well prepared to undergo further training, as evidenced by my completion of Cert IV Small Business Management.
