  • Last/current workplace: Active Kids Centres of Excellence
  • 40 years old from Alexandria, NSW

I am Vietnamese/Australian and currently work in childcare. I was born into a tailoring family where my mother fed and raised 10 children by utilising her tailoring skills. She taught me how to work diligently; act with compassion; how to share and to love. Being the second last child in the family these qualities were very important to have, as I would come to understand in my adult life. I have transferred my life skills to my current occupation as an Early Childhood Educator and have been doing so for the last five years. Working with children comes easy to me and I have found it to be a very rewarding experience. Working with children has developed my patience, gentleness and caring. I find their enthusiasm and love for learning infectious. Further to my occupation I am heavily involved with community services and I’m an active member of my community. I am a music conductor for a Vietnamese Youth Choir in Cabramatta which has over 100 members. I relish this role as I am extremely passionate about music and anything artistic in nature. The choir allows me to connect with people who have common interests and who share the same beliefs that we serve our community through faith, songs and music. I am also the Vice President of VABAA (Viet-Aust Bac Ai Association), a charity organisation which aims to create public awareness of the needs of disadvantaged people in our world. Being part of this organisation helps me share love and kindness to those less fortunate than myself and brings me closer to my faith.
