Besides academic and professional qualifications, I count over 17 years of industry experience of which around nine years in senior finance positions and more than seven years of overseas postings in Indonesia, Republic of Seychelles & most recently in Papua New Guinea as well. In my last assignment I worked for a company named Hardware Haus Ltd which is one the largest hardware retailers in Papua New Guinea having 11 branches across the country. And it has a manufacturing arm to manufacture buildings using steel & timber materials as well. As Financial Controller, I directly reported to the CEO & liaised with the board of directors on secretarial matters as the Company Secretary. My former CEO was an Australian & the Chairman was a New Zealander. The board consisted of eminent personalities from Fiji, New Zealand, India & Sri Lanka. And I was directly supervising over 20 staff. I do have a strong record of significant accomplishments in my last employment & this includes amongst the other things, significantly improving working capital position (improving debtors collection by at least 50%), review product pricing, GP Margins & recommendations, review contracts & tenders for construction business, system improvements in order to strengthen the internal controls, strict cost (expenses) & budgetary controls, negotiating the best rates with the banks & best terms with the suppliers, in time submission of monthly financials, budgets & forecasts, meeting very strict audit deadlines & no adverse comments by the external auditors in their management report.
