My name is Jen Warburton and I’m currently in my 3rd year studying the Bachelor of Education part time via correspondence with Curtin University. Over the past year, I’ve been heavily involved in various youth programs with the Salvation Army. They have recently offered me a scholarship to complete a double Cert IV in Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Mental Health that has recently commenced and will finish in June 2015.. The duration of this course is 5 months with 6 contact hours of intense workshops and classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The course has a very hands-on approach to equip the students with all the skills needed for the industry. It has already shown a great impact on my learning so far and is inspiring me more and more each week to be the best I can be ithin the Community Services sector.
I will be deferring from my teaching degree for 6 months while involved in this course and look forward to the opportunities in a new career path.
I’m currently employed on a part time basis with Chemist Warehouse in their Malvern store. I’ve had a great work environment and have enjoyed my time working with and learning from the Naturopaths in the store. However, I'm eager to follow my career path and gain employment assisting the youth within Community Services. I feel this role as a Youth Community Support Worker is a great opportunity for me to enter the industry. I strongly believe I have the morals and ethics to be successful in this role. My ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, my range of computer skills and organisational skills, along with the technical skills and information that I'm learning very quickly through my course, I'm confident I can be a successful contributing Youth Community Support Worker. I know I can give everything I have to this role and be an enthusiastic and a hard working member of the workplace.
I hope you will consider my application.
