Project Manager - FIFO job availability

  • We are working with one of Australia's largest miners who are experiencing a period of growth within WA's resource sectors. A new requirement has arisen for a Project Manager to join a collaborative team environment based in Port Hedland.

    About the role

    This is a FIFO role on a 5:2/4:3 (days) roster although will be initially 'work from home'. We're looking for a hands-on PM (or suitably experience Project Engineer) with with demonstrated experience delivering projects.

    Reporting to the Superintendent & Lead Engineer - Projects & Modifications - within the Rail Engineering team your duties will include:

    • Project managing a portfolio of delivery phase brownfields Modifications and Small Projects to the defined scope, budget, schedule, and specifications and in accordance with relevant processes and standards
    • Responsible for the practical execution of ensuring the projects are delivered
    • Engaging and coordinating the execution of the works including Operations, EPCM organisations, contractors, government organisations and functional groups
    • Provide technical assistance and guidance for projects during the ID & Select, Definition and Execution phases
    • Ensuring that the execution of any modifications and projects has been scheduled in alignment with budget/deadlines
    • Ensuring quality control of execution activities and that a safe, efficient, cost-effective system
    • Overseeing the work on the contractors and liaising with multiple stakeholders within the project.

    About You

    As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

    • Looking for 2+ years experience in project management - demonstrated ability to manage cost, schedule and scope
    • Experience delivering projects without direct reports
    • Project Management training or diploma preferable
    • Hands on experience rather than managing contractors
    • 5 - 10 years resource experience within a resources environment
    • Good communication skills with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders
    • Previous rail or roads projects experience

    Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
