Junior Cost Controller job availability

  • Our client is a large ASX listed mining organisation who are seeking an experienced Junior Cost Controller to join their vibrant team on a contract basis. This a fantastic opportunity to get your foot in the door with a major leader in the mining space.


    The role
    This role will be reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will consist of the following duties but not limited to;

    • Set up and maintain Project(s) Cost System using Microsoft Excel and accounting reports
    • Producing weekly cost reports and advise of any forecast cost overruns or savings promptly to allow corrective actions to be taken in a timely manner or capital to be returned
    • Maintain comprehensive registers of financial approvals, variations and change orders
    • Review cost commitment and expenditure information for all cost elements, for input to the cost control and reporting system on a consistent basis
    • Identify and obtain necessary approval of estimates/change requests, PCRs
    • Highlight cost areas of concern and suggesting areas of improvement
    • Work in tandem with Finance Team to establish weekly evaluation of work completed, goods received, and services rendered for invoice preparation and verification
    • Obtain approval of invoices in accordance with Authority Matrix
    • Ensure that all cost related work aligns with procurement contract(s)
    • Assist with producing monthly Project reports


    Ideal Candidate

    • 3 years'+ experience working in cost control or junior cost control role or General Accounts background
    • Team orientated - willing to assist other team members to get projects delivered under budget and on time
    • Strong user of Microsoft Excel - must be intermediate
    • Experience working onsite previously
    • Good management, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
    • Able to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
    • Detail-oriented, dependable and trustworthy
    • High level organisational skills, resource management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
