Health Safety and Environmental Coordinator job availability

  • Programmed Skilled Workforce are seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator for a project based locally in Darwin. The HSE Coordinator will guide and promote safe work performances by ensuring that proper safety practices are in place. Furthermore, this individual will guide staff in embracing and implementing a safe culture through training and reporting metrics.


    The successful candidate will carry out the following areas of responsibility:

    * Guide plant staff in embracing and implementing a safe culture
    * Represent site to regulatory agencies during compliance inspections when necessary
    * Evaluate current HSE programs and activities to ensure compliance with all site and local government related regulations
    * Report, monitor, and correct environmental, health, and safety problems/issues
    * Guide and promote safe work performance by developing proactive EHS systems, policies, and procedures; develop safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with the company strategies
    * Assist in preparation of PTW Risk Assessment and Work Method Statements.
    * Carry out HAZOP and HAZID preparations as required and support in providing mitigation controls
    * Maintain training records for HSE topics and ensure required training is completed
    * Coordinate with plant staff and customers in conducting compliance audits
    * Maintain an up to date training matrix and coordinate HSE training to ensure staff compliance with mandatory, customer and policy requirements.
    * Oversee and conduct periodic plant inspections including identifying unsafe practices or equipment
    * Conduct and review all incident investigations, ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriate, completed in a timely fashion, and lessons learned are communicated
    * Provide and ensure all HSE reporting is completed, including monthly reporting from each site
    * Assist in achieving corporate and local environmental and safety goals
    * Generate and track HSE performance metrics for each site

    Qualifications:


    * Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety essential
    * Diploma in Work Health and Safety preferred
    * Environmental qualifications desirable
    * At least 5 years' experience in an HSE role at an industrial site
    * Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis techniques, risk assessment
    * Experience with emergency preparedness and response and first aid training
    * Experience in an electrical plant operation preferred
    * Experience in Risk Assessments and Work Method Statements
    * First Aid Certification
    * Working knowledge of Federal and States' WHS regulatory requirements
    * Strong problem-solving techniques
    * Strong written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skills
    * People and performance management oriented
