Tomorrow kicks off the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil! With 64 games to be played and many hours of sleep to be lost, how will Australians celebrate the 20th anniversary of the much loved sport? Lucky for us, the recent introduction of lock-out laws in the CBD will be temporarily lifted for select venues who will be screening the games throughout the country. Due to the scheduling of the games, many bars and hotels will be opening in the wee hours of the morning for the soccer fans that are willing to give up their time in bed for time spent cheering on their teams! Don't forget about those guys and gals working in hospitality jobs that will be swapping their beds for the bar as well, rising early to pour the drinks and cook the much needed breakfast!
Despite the early schedule for The Cup & the "Group of Death" in which the socceroos have joined, the Australians will no doubt get into their patriotic spirit and support their home team. After all, they're going to need it.
Side Note: Australians consume $2.5 billion worth of tap beer…annually (According to SMH).
If you’d rather watch the game rugged up in a blanket with a hot chocolate in the comfort of your home, SBS has exclusive rights to the World Cup and will be airing each of the 64 games of the tournament!
