City of Sydney and OneShift talk Tech

Friday 28 August, 2015

Last week, OneShift met with the Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore to discuss how the City can work with businesses and government to help tech entrepreneurs. The mission: to get one step closer to building an environment that helps tech entrepreneurs to start and grow successful global businesses. The ongoing goal: help to shape the future of Sydney!

Our CEO Gen was joined by other inspiring Sydney entrepreneurs including the CEOs of ATP Innovations, Blue Chilli, Stone & Chalk, the Founder of iCentral.Co and the Chair of Springboard Enterprises Australia.

The latest research shows that there is a real appetite for tech startups in Sydney. Over two thirds (64%) of Australia’s tech startups, and similarly up to 15% of Australian workers employed in the ICT sector are based in the local government area.

It was a jam-packed day of inspiring plans to help future tech startups in Sydney, and full of innovative future plans and encouraging key messages were established.

Since the event last week the City of Sydney has developed a Draft Tech Startup Action Plan to get the ball rolling with what was discussed and help tech startups develop and thrive!

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said, “I want Sydney to be a leader in the tech startup field and this Action Plan will guide our work”. Good news for future tech startups in our fine city!
