When I talk about success, please don’t take that to mean a big fat cheque. When I talk about success, I'm not talking about it in terms of dollars but rather in terms of personal situations. Are you struggling to find a job? Are you going for your next promotion? Or are you even attempting to start your own business?
To be a successful person in any stream of life, there are numerous things to take into account. Still, no matter your situation, if you possess the following three things, they will no doubt help you on your journey, wherever it made lead:
You not only need to believe in yourself but also your product. Even if that product is you! And not in a ‘selling yourself on the street’ kind of way, more in a ‘trying to get a job’ kind of way. You wouldn’t turn up to an interview and say, “I don’t think I’d be very good for the job”. You need to be confident in yourself so that other people will believe in you and want to invest their time and money into you or your business.
Just like anything, if you don’t take action, nothing will happen. You can’t reach success by expecting it to fall in your hands. If you’re looking for a part time job in say…hospitality, go and introduce yourself to them in person (or better yet, sign up to OneShift!). Want that promotion? You’re not going to get it by doing the same old thing day by day, you need to take action and impress your boss by going above and beyond your duties.
Imagine if you started to look for a temporary job, you applied for one and didn’t get it so you give up. That’s not how life works. You have to persevere until you reach your goal. If you find things aren’t working, then tweak them until they are. This is possibly the most difficult yet most important of the three.
Good luck out there!
